I am a certified tutor with over 5 years of experience in classrooms and groups teaching humanities, grammar, and writing techniques to a wide range of students. I am currently an undergraduate student at Fordham University and I tutor grades PK - 8.
I am a passionate and dedicated teacher who is enthusiastic to help others thrive and grow in areas they may be struggling in. I utilize mastery learning, in addition to considering the unique learning styles of each student. Setting a foundation of understanding and then going step by step is key to a real understanding of a topic or concept. I reinforce learned strategies and meet students where they are, at any level, until the student is able to apply such strategies on their own with success.
One of my favorite success stories is when I helped an 8th-grade student not just pass her U.S. History Regents exam, but gain the second-highest grade in her school. Despite having some understanding of learning and studying strategies, she struggled to retain information and apply it during tests. We met 3-5 times over the course of 4 months, and she was able to raise her grade from an 80 to a 98! She is now currently attending college for her bachelor's degree.
When I'm not tutoring, I love listening to music and dancing! I've been a dancer for 10+ years. I also enjoy hiking and being in nature.
