I’ve loved math my whole life, and I love teaching it and helping students meet their goals. I'm pursuing a master's degree in space systems engineering and I tutor grades 7-College.
My goal is the student’s goal. I love math and am passionate about it, but make sure that my priorities align with those of the student. I like to get to know the students and try to come up with analogies or activities that they can relate with. I love drawing all over the whiteboard for a more interactive and visual tutoring experience. I try and focus on materials given in class so I don’t go into too little or too much detail.
I received a middle school student whose father talked with me about how he didn’t care about his class. He told me his son didn’t click with his teacher or any of his other tutors in the past. I started tutoring him and he had a hard time focusing, but after getting to know him over a few weeks we got a groove during our sessions and we’ve been meeting for 4 years. His father keeps me updated and says his son gets more out of an hour long session than a week in class.
I’ve been singing in choirs since middle school. I’ve also been playing volleyball since high school. I love writing music, playing the piano, acting, singing, playing games, and watching movies.
