I began tutoring in 2004, while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduating in 2008, I began my teaching career while still providing personalized tutoring to students after school. I earned my Master’s degree in TESOL in 2013.
My favorite subjects to tutor are Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra & Algebra.
I’ve worked with a variety of age groups from Kindergarten to 9th grade. From the traditional classroom setting to one-on-one tutoring.
I'm an energetic and engaging teacher who creates lessons built on connections created with each individual student. With my many years of teaching students with a variety of learning styles, I’ve learned that every student is different and it takes time to build a program that is just right for them. No matter where they're starting, I work with students to identify areas that need to be mastered while building confidence along the way. For me, the most rewarding part of being a tutor is the “aha” moment, when the student realizes they now understand the new concept.
At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year I began working with a student who had tested at a level 1 (below average) for reading. We worked hard for months and found topics that connected with his hobbies. When the student was tested in March of 2021 he was scored a level 4 (above average).
