I have had the pleasure of tutoring math since I was in the 7th grade, when I helped my peers understand the fundamentals of algebra. I have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with magna cum laude honors from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and I tutor grades K-College.
I enjoy presenting math as something that can actually be fun. I think my enthusiasm and excitement about math helps students see that math is not so bad. That’s my goal! I want students to realize that they can learn math given the right tools and the right support.
One of my most memorable and heart-warming experience was when I tutored an 8th grade English as a Second Language (ESL) student who had gaps in math as far back as 4th grade. In a few short months, I was able to not only catch him up to 8th grade level, but he also ended the year with the highest grade in his 8th grade math class. I also helped this student excel in other subject areas as well, including science, history & english. As a result of all his success, watching this student’s confidence strengthen from week to week and becoming a more easy-going & relaxed person was the best part!
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two kids, boating, traveling and home decorating.
