Gabrielle

I am a certified teacher with years of experience teaching and tutoring math and computer science. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Virginia Tech University and I tutor grades 5-College.

My tutoring style:

I believe that every student is unique, so I do my best to first understand the student with who I am working with before attempting to teach them. I have a great level of patience and understanding, which enables me to connect with kids and get a better understanding of what they are struggling with. I am passionate about providing a positive and safe environment in where kids may express their needs and desires, which will help with their learning. My goal is always for a student to leave with a much deeper understanding than when they originally arrived, and to succeed and be the best that they can be!

Success story:

One of my favorite success stories is one of the first students I had during my first year of teaching, which was roughly four years ago. She was a young student who battled with her grades in many areas, particularly math. She was first quite apprehensive about having me as her tutor, but as we connected, she became more comfortable opening up to me, which helped her succeed and pass not only her math class but all of her classes. Even though I was no longer her tutor, I continued to assist her in the years that followed, and now have the honor of seeing her cross the stage to receive her diploma this June.

Hobbies and interests:

I enjoy being outdoors, whether it be taking a walk, hiking, running, visiting the beach, or simply visiting a nearby park with my 4-year-old beagle. In fact, I'm currently preparing for my first half marathon, which I hope to run in September, and I couldn't be more thrilled!
In addition, I enjoy reading fiction books, watching anime, and listening to crime podcasts.
