About Me

I am a certified teacher with experience in a traditional classroom and tutoring adult learners. I taught high school mathematics in Arizona, and I tutored mathematics while I was in the military. I tutor grades 7 through 12 and some college.

Tutoring Style

I am a very flexible and adaptive tutor. I like to adjust my explanations and examples to meet the needs of my students. I want to build a good student-teacher relationship to make it easier for students to communicate their needs. Praise and celebration are important to building confidence, and my goal is to give students the tools and confidence to tackle challenges with excitement, not fear!

Success Story

I was teaching a freshman math class as a high school teacher. The student who sat closest to my desk was a young lady who was LOVING high school life and drama, but she was struggling to enjoy her social life and get the grades she wanted. I worked with her during class and sometimes after school at tutoring. We worked together on problems, I helped correct her mistakes, and she told me all about her school drama. Because I was happy to listen to her and she felt comfortable talking to me, she was comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. She ended the class with a 93%. To this day, she still contacts me occasionally with math questions, and I recently wrote her a letter of recommendation for college.

Hobbies & Interests

I'm a gamer, artist, and chronically online. I play on PC, Switch, and PS5. I love resource management colony sims, puzzle/strategy games, and sandbox RPGs. I also love doing tons of arts and crafts-related things. I've done needlefelting, clay sculpting, painting, embroidery, origami, and more! I've loved anime since I was in high school and I'm always watching a few of the currently-airing anime on Crunchyroll. I also love MCU movies/shows, and I have a huge love for horror movies. I'm always open to new hobbies and interests!
