I am a friendly and energetic tutor with an extensive history in helping learners develop their ability to grasp material and improve their academic and test performance. I have a bachelor’s degree from Rutger’s University and I tutor grades 5-College.
I use a critical thinking skills approach to assess students’ issues and determine the most appropriate tools and methods for improvement.
I was approached by a HS football coach to help his athletes prepare for the ACT and SAT to meet their required score goals for scholarship offers. In one case, a student was being offered a scholarship package to an Ivy League university on the condition that he improve his ACT score by three points within a three week deadline. The student really wanted to qualify for the scholarship offer, but as a student athlete in the midst of senior year, finding the time and motivation to prepare - for a test he thought he was done with - was difficult. Together, we took a small amount of time to commiserate over the unexpected challenge. Then, we discussed his current responsibilities to develop a reasonable practice schedule. Next, we delved into some practice to identify his most pressing test issues, which allowed us to establish the most practice plan. Six weeks later - he, his parents, and I all celebrated when he met his score goal!
I love all genres of music. I can rock with anything from chamber music to hip hop. I also love documentaries, especially crime documentaries; I can watch them for hours!
