About Me

I am a certified mathematics teacher for grades K-12 with 34 years of classroom experience teaching math. I have a master's degree from Eastern Illinois University and I tutor grades 5-9.

Tutoring Style

I am passionate about teaching math and enjoy helping my students become proficient in math. I adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of my students, going slow if needed, or being prepared to move quickly to meet them at their level. I enforce the topics my students need to grasp by reviewing with them until they have a good understanding and are ready to apply what they have learned.

Success Story

One of my favorite success stories is when I helped a struggling 7th-grade student on the Illinois state summative assessment in math. She lacked confidence in her ability to do math, so we worked together throughout the school year to help her prepare for the end of the year state assessment. The following fall when she received her state assessment scores, she came running down the hall to my room to let me know she had passed her exam. She was thrilled!

Hobbies & Interests

I love to play pickleball in my spare time. I also work out regularly. I have 3 children who all played college sports, so we have always been a very active family.
