With my twenty years of experience as a mathematics teacher in South Korea. I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in Mathematics Education from South Korea. I am currently tutoring Algebra and Geometry as a private tutor in the U.S. From this fall, I will work at a college as an Algebra Specialist. I enjoy being able to provide help to students with my mathematical knowledge so that students can achieve their goals.
I’ve dedicated myself to shaping young minds and fostering their passion for learning. I have implemented various methods to encourage my students to participate in the class through using hands-on activities, creating group projects, and letting students make presentations. These activities allow students to express their thoughts in multiple ways. I am highly motivated to combine my experience in education and skills in creating innovative, efficient, and engaging learning materials. I hope to continue helping students to learn math in a fun and engaging environment.
I encountered one of my students in a class of around 25 students. Despite her apparent effort, she did not achieve a satisfactory grade. Recognizing her potential, I recommended one-on-one tutoring, which required additional work during lunchtime. She consistently visited my classroom with her queries. I clarified her questions and encouraged her to devise similar example questions that she grasped from our discussions. She presented the examples she had formulated and elucidated them to me. This process continued for a semester. Eventually, I discovered that she had earned a "B" in Math instead of a "D." She developed a newfound love for math and gained confidence. I am extremely proud of her.
