About Me

I'm a certified teacher going into my sixth-year teaching mathematics. I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's Degree in Middle-Level Education, a Major in Mathematics, a Minor in Social Science, and English as a Second Language Enforcement. I also received my Masters in Educational Technology Curriculum and Instruction at Concordia University Chicago.

Tutoring Style

I am an energetic teacher, passionate about engaging students in math! My teaching style is based on the needs of each individual student. I enjoy teaching using models, charts, and vocabulary, relating the topics to real-world situations, and practicing until each student understands and is confident with the skill at hand!

Success Story

I tutored a sixth-grade student, who was diagnosed with ADHD. She was testing into the "did not meet" section of her Math standardized test as well as she was constantly performing below grade level on her MAP tests. She came into tutoring with a negative attitude. With this in mind, I took the first 5 to 10 minutes of tutoring getting to know her interests and hobbies as well as her getting to know me. This caused us to develop mutual trust. Her having this comfort with me caused her mindset of the tutoring process and math in general to change. As for academics, with knowledge of her 504, my tutoring structure was more activity and hands-on based. With us meeting once or twice a week for about a year, she was at grade level!

I enjoy cooking, snowboarding, hiking, walking my dog, and spending time with friends and family!
