My career as an educator started with two decades as a community college math instructor. I have been a freelance tutor since the 1990s. I specialize in teaching math, science, and standardized exams for grades 9 and up.
My teaching style is "know your subject, know yourself." We will always tutor with objective goals in mind: getting the best possible grades or test scores. With homework help, this will involve keeping a close eye on your homework assignments, syllabus, test dates and policies. I'll have you start the problems so that I can see where you need help and make my help as efficient as possible. With exams like the SAT, we'll get to know the exam inside and out and will also diagnose you regularly along dimensions of problem type, time, etc. so that you know how to chart your progress and set test-day strategies.
I am proud to have been part of students' journeys toward Columbia, Harvard, Notre Dame, NYU, Penn / Wharton, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Yale, and other dream schools. I have helped struggling high school students rise to the top of their class in hard subjects like calculus and physics. I've also helped many parents realize that their children don't have learning disabilities after all!
I am a licensed attorney, a "tutorney" as a hybrid career. Let me know if you aspire to law school someday. I am also a prolific amateur writer who self-published a history of the world.
