About Me

I am a certified teacher with more than 13 years of combined years in the traditional classroom, virtual teaching, small group tutoring, and one-on-one tutoring in person and virtual. I have a Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University in Ohio and I tutor grades 4-9.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style involves patience, relating the content to the child, and making sure a student can apply their understanding. I feel it is important to adapt to the needs of the child and make sure they have a true understanding and can apply what they have learned before moving on. I am a big believer in students explaining what they know and that it is ok if they do not know something, yet.

Success Story

One of the success stories was virtually working with a 6th-grade student who had a math understanding of a 4th-grader. I was able to help her with visuals and explanations that allowed her to make connections to the math. After each of our sessions, she was able to explain her understanding and apply it to other problems. She said it was the first time she had a real understanding of math concepts and felt confident in herself. She was able to pass her state test at the end of the year and we continue to keep in contact as she continues her school career.

Hobbies & Interests

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, baking, going for walks with my husband and pug, taking pictures, watching sports, playing volleyball, basketball, swimming, and enjoying a good movie. I have to say I am quite the movie trivia connoisseur. I also enjoy a good science experiment!
