Hi Learners, I have been tutoring since 2018. I have strengths in teaching skills with fractions, multiplication tricks, number sense, factoring & solving equations, and visualizing math concepts. I believe with the right amount of time and resources anyone can both learn and use math in their daily lives.
I try to make my tutoring sessions as accommodating for learning and growth as possible. I am a calm and understanding person, I try to show the big simple ideas of a concept, and then demonstrate how to perform the skills while trying to get my students involved in the steps with me. I think tutoring time is best managed by getting a few samples scattered throughout the assignment, versus running out of time without getting to the intermediate and advanced problems. If I, the student, and the guardians keep a great line of communication it makes great lasting results. Last, I believe in academic honesty, tutoring is not paying for answers and a letter grade, but making sure the student absorbs mastery of the subject from the tutor.
One success story I remember fondly was instructing a 12 class summer course called " Bridging The Gap In Geometry." I instructed an original curriculum summarizing what a condensed year of high school geometry would look like. I performed for the students geometric constructions, derived common formulas, and used interactive websites for better understanding of each topic. The class had excellent attendance each week from the students. The students really wanted to advance and collect every resource I shared. The learners eagerly participated in class. The students were saddened by our last meeting, so I realized the class had a big impact towards getting them ready for the school year to come.
I enjoy watching and drawing anime. I illustrate and publish books. I have created children's books, activity books, and one published math book - The A+ Math Book with Fractions. I enjoy a variety of YouTube channels from food reviewers, car channels, art channels, Christian content, skits, comedians, nostalgic type channels, animals, and math YouTubers. I enjoy reading Reddit posts, memes, and wikis.
