I have worked as a teacher with students of all levels in basic and advanced math courses. I share a way to approach problems that continually builds confidence in every session. I have a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Dayton and I tutor grades 6-College.
Every student, from young to old, can learn, comprehend and succeed in mathematics. I am currently a high school teacher and I tutor the way I work with my students in a session. I have them share how they best learn, what their interests are, and where they tend to struggle. Then, I work on incorporating that information into our sessions. I keep trying to find ways to approach problems that make sense for the student AND allows them some creativity in their approach.
I have a student now that I have been working with for almost three years now. He has had a difficult time inside AND outside school. I spent time helping him build up his confidence first. Then through our rapport building, his hard work, and our one-on-one time, he has shown a strong understanding of Algebra 2 and is now confident in his abilities to tackle difficult problems. His mother was so pleased when she texted me, regarding his success, “You have no idea how nice it is to hear.” He was recently accepted into our high school’s Informational Technology career program!
