About Me

I am a certified teacher with 4 years of experience working with English language learners and students with special needs for grades 7-12. I have a bachelor's degree from CUNY City College in Mathematics Education. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic; I am fluent in Spanish.

Tutoring Style

My focus is to guide students to truly understand Mathematics. My teaching style is flexible to the needs and strengths of the student. I provide real-life examples that are related to the interests of the students and explain concepts in different ways. When students understand the math and make connections, it is easier for them to remember the concepts. I have many tools in my teaching kit to show students and help them be successful.

Success Story

One of my success stories is when I tutored a student after school for the NYS Math Regents. She was struggling with a few concepts, but also with test anxiety. The student would see me once a week to learn new topics and reinforce prior knowledge. I worked with her on strategies to calm down and focus on the directions given for the test. Over time, I would collect her work and then after a month, I was able to show her the progress she had made. She became very motivated and came to see me 3 times a week. She was able to pass the exam on her next try.

Hobbies & Interests

In my free time, I enjoy reading novels and listening to music. When the weather is nice outside, I enjoy cycling or playing Volleyball. Also, I am learning French.
