I'm a global school leader and teacher specializing in ELA, ESL, Science, and Learning Differences for grades PK-6. I've taught and tutored online to students around the world for 15+ years, supporting Common Core elementary, homeschool/worldschool students, and college/adult learners.
I strive to help my students experience what they are learning, and I incorporate play-based learning for all ages (yes, even for adults!). My teaching style includes immersive and cooperative experiences that promote inclusivity and individual development, reinforce life skills, leverage technologies, inspire accountability, and facilitate a passion for growth. I'm quite silly and a little strict, the perfect mix to keep students on track when learning gets tough.
One of my students was struggling in class to improve his phonics and reading skills, and it was already about 6 weeks into the 12 week program. The teacher also reported that he was having a hard time focusing and being disciplined to get through small tasks or activities. After a brief assessment, I was able to create an individual learning plan and uncover some small accommodations that would make a big difference to his learning process. We met three times each week, and within three weeks the student was able to get fully caught up on the 9 weeks of class he had missed. He rejoined his group and graduated from that program as a student that LOVED reading and would prove to be an excellent creative writer.
I love nature, hiking, swimming, fishing, living low-waste and low-chemical, volunteering, and just enjoying life!!
