I received my Bachelor's degree in Integrated Educational Studies from Chapman University with cum laude honors in 2015. I've been tutoring for more than ten years and I have experience teaching K-12 math.
While math can seem like a challenge to those who do not initially understand it, anyone is capable of comprehending the necessary skills to be successful in mathematics. While there is a need for students to understand the fundamentals of whatever math they are studying, just as important is every students confidence when approaching the problems given to them. Students learn best not only when they understand the topic at hand, but also when they feel comfortable and confident in their own ability to answer their questions. Approaching each student with their needs and skills in mind allows an individualized lesson that ensures the highest likelihood of success for the student.
One summer, as the school year was quickly approaching, I was contacted by one of my student’s parents. Her mom called me almost in tears saying her daughter was taking an online math class over the summer, was weeks behind, had a 30% in the class, and the class needed to be finished (and passed) in the next week and a half. I agreed to help. Not only did that student finish the class on time, she ended up passing with a high B. The student and her mom were overjoyed and I have been tutoring that student ever since.
I love taking my son to Disneyland. I love playing video games with my husband. My favorite form of exercise is going for long walks with my family.
