I am a certified teacher with more than 25 years of experience in classrooms. I have a master's degree in secondary math education from the University of Wyoming and I tutor grades 6-12.
I am a fun-loving, passionate math teacher. I absolutely love everything about math, from completing hard to solve problems to teaching strategies to students. I know math is not everyone's favorite subject, in fact, it is usually most students' least favorite. I like to create a positive, safe learning environment where students feel like they can make mistakes with positive reinforcement. Math is like a language, we need to practice and learn from our mistakes to be able to understand the concepts.
One of my favorite memories is when I helped a 6th grade student with his multiplication and division difficulties. When he came to me for tutoring he was able to use his multiplication table to do basic multiplication and division facts. His 5th grade teacher had labeled him as a difficult student without any numbers skills or concepts. At the end of the semester he was able to multiply/divide up to 4 digit by 3 digit numbers with ease. And apply his skills to decimals!
My family and I love to go camping in the Big Horn Mountains. We love to go 4-wheeling on the trails and fishing in the streams and lakes. We also like to travel to new places for new experiences. I am also an avid reader.
