I am a passionate and dedicated special education teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching K-6 students. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Special Education. I am also proficient in American Sign Language and skilled in teaching students with special needs or struggling students.
I am a goal-driven teacher with a compassionate heart. I use a variety of teaching strategies to match my students' unique learning styles. I believe in equipping students with the skills they need to understand concepts and achieve mastery, rather than simply providing answers.
John became deaf after undergoing surgery at the age of 15. His mom approached me to help him learn sign language and use it for school. When we first met, his self-esteem was very low, and he avoided talking. When he did speak, it was either very soft or too loud. Over the course of one semester, I taught him sign language and helped him regulate his voice. He was able to pass his senior high school exams and is now in college.
I am a very active person. After long hours of tutoring, I usually stay active by running, lifting weights, swimming, hiking, or simply spending time outdoors. I enjoy camping and long drives in the summer. In the winter, I love snowshoeing and skiing.
