I am a certified teacher with almost a decade of experience in teaching English Language Arts, various humanities, and English as a second language to students of all ages. I have a bachelor’s degree from Southern Oregon University, am currently attending the University of Connecticut on a full-ride scholarship, and tutor grades K-College.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who is extremely passionate about the topics I teach. I have a lively teaching style, adapting to the needs of the students in front of me. I enforce what we learn together through engaging techniques until the student has the concepts solidified. My ultimate goal is always to see my students surpass needing my help.
One of my favorite success stories is when I helped an 8th-grade student move from a 4th-grade reading level to a 9th-grade reading level and raise her grade in ELA and History from a C- and C to an A and A+. We met 3 times a week for the duration of the school year. By the end of the year she was accepted into Honors English at her high school, graduated out of her English Language Learner program, and had her IEP adjusted to no longer include ELA. She has gone on to become an honors student and president of the Latinx Association at her high school.
I am a huge animal lover and spend much of my free time training my dogs and cats. I am also currently getting my MFA in Acting and love all things theatre-related. When I am not acting or playing with my pups I enjoy activities including bodybuilding/weight training, reading, volleyball, and painting.
