I'm a certified teacher with years of experience maximizing an online learning environment. I graduated with honors to obtain a bachelor's degree in philosophy from California State University at Chico and I tutor grades 1-College.
I love getting to know my students and developing a unique teaching style to accommodate their needs. I'm a firm believer in approaching challenging content from a new angle through the use of customized examples, lesson plans, and strategies for growth. Every student has unique strengths, and it's my job to help them apply those strengths to all areas of their education. I aim to help students feel heard and supported at every step of the learning process.
One of my proudest accomplishments is a three-year tutoring relationship I fostered with a graduate student beginning to work on her thesis. When she began working with me, we initially focused on organizing her research and ideas, though she also struggled with grammar, mechanics, and sentence structure. As we continued our twice-weekly sessions, we developed a custom plan to help her improve grammar and sentence structure as an ESL student. She's made incredible progress and consistently produces polished work. This year, she'll graduate with the thesis she first approached me with, and I couldn't be more excited for her.
When I'm not tutoring, I love reading, playing video games, and drawing. I'm a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy novels, all things gothic, and classic rock. I'll play anything from The Last of Us to Stardew Valley and The Sims. My wife and I are also cat people, and we have a tortoiseshell named Pooka.
