I know that every student can do math and science. I understand that every student is unique, which requires a specific approach to tutoring each student. I too learn from students.
Elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult learners.
A session of tutoring with me is always a continuous discussion with the student. Neither of us is silent, and I am not lecturing. We come to an agreement about what needs to be accomplished, and we get it done together. I stay connected with my students and their parents continuously over the course of our time together via email and phone. No one is left in the dark on what’s going on.
I'll give you two for the price of one!
I tutored a WWII veteran at the age of 90 in math, in order for him to graduate and receive a high school diploma. The experiences he shared from his life have impacted me immensely and forever. A generation of people we may never see the likes of again!
I tutored a student with ADHD in math who was in 4th grade elementary school. This student was not given the resources to be successful in math, and as a result had failing grades and low self-esteem. As the school year progressed, we began to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I learned about the amazing talent this student had with storytelling and writing original comic books! The student learned how math is an integral part of everyone’s life, no matter what their interests or occupation may be. We truly connected and gained a respect for each other. And ultimately, the student completed the school year with a B in math.
I like watching professional sports: football, basketball, baseball. I enjoy training emotional support dogs. I like to travel around the world.
