I am a scientist with more than a decade of experience tutoring and instructing general chemistry. I have a master's degree in analytical chemistry from Purdue University and I tutor grades 9-College.
I am an energetic and empathetic tutor who places an emphasis on structure and organization. I present chemistry material to a student in a way that they understand, dissecting the content back to basics until the student is comfortable proceeding. I am patient and more than glad to help any student who is willing to learn.
Some of my favorite times working as an educator was when I instructed chemistry during my graduate schooling. One of my particular teaching assistant assignments was a Summer section of Chemistry 116. The students were on an pre-engineering career path, and most were repeating the course in the hopes of achieving a passing grade. I met with a handful of the students several times each week, working through problems and examples. I saw the relief and confidence on their faces when they finally began understanding the material. It was joy to see them succeed in the class and move forward with pursuing their degrees.
I love spending time with my husband, my daughter, and our pet cats and chickens. I also very much enjoy music, outdoor activities, and reading dramatic thriller novels. I spent my entire childhood and college studying ballet and dancing on the kick-line team, and my love for music brings me great memories from those days.
