Experienced and dependable teacher with more than 20 years of teaching and tutoring math and physics for grades 9 through first year of college. Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Currently, I am an adjunct physics faculty with Carroll Community College in Westminster, MD.
My goal is to help my students achieve high grades through building self confidence and overcome the fear of mathematics. I understand that students do not think the same, each student has his or her way of thinking. I employ my enthusiasm and interactive teaching style and strategies to effectively engage my students.
One of my favorite success stories is when I helped one of my Algebra I students not only pass but do exceedingly well in her class. It started when I discovered that the student was able to solve problems from the textbook but not when the same problems were typed on quiz paper! She had math anxiety. I decided to assign homework problems from the textbook but gave her the same problems typed on paper. After each class, I met her in Zoom, I shared the book problems and asked her to solve, then shared the same problems from the paper. After a few weeks she established self confidence and was able to solve problems from the book or typed on paper. As she felt good about herself her grades improved and scored A in the end!
