I am a public school educator who is going into my 7th year in the mathematics classroom. While I have spent most of my career teaching 8th-grade math and Algebra 1, I enjoy making math make sense to those grades 3 to 9.
I am an educator who hated school growing up, but I loved learning. I was always the "gifted underachiever." Little did I know that I had ADHD. As an adult, I decided to take everything that doesn't work about education and replace it with research-based strategies that not only work for the students but generate far better results! I take pleasure in making examples that make sense to the students and their interests. Who said math has to always be boring!
I had one 7th-grade student who was consistently scoring C's on his quizzes and tests. After working with me twice a week for about a month, I was able to add depth to what he learned in class to the point where his parents decided he only needed tutoring once a week. His scores continued to improve to the point that I began to push him past his 7th-grade standards, and he was able to complete 8th-grade math problems with intermediate assistance. His scores held strong above the 80% proficiency level for the remainder of the school year.
I enjoy building gaming PCs, going to the gym, and riding motorcycles.
