I am a dedicated mathematics tutor with over a decade of experience. I also have a unique background in Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Finance; with multiple bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and Biology. I specialize helping high school and college students achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.
In my tutoring sessions, I leverage a blend of screen sharing and graphing applications to visually demonstrate mathematical concepts, making them more accessible and engaging for my students. I guide students on how to explore solutions on their own, especially when they feel stuck or unsure about how to proceed. This approach not only enhances their problem-solving skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of the subject. To create a relaxed and conducive learning environment, I incorporate humor and comedy, lowering the stakes and allowing students to learn without the pressure of perfection. My goal is to make math less intimidating and more enjoyable, helping each student build confidence and achieve their academic potential.
Matt was a first year Marketing major at Seattle University. He was in a panic about failing Business Calculus; with an average grade of D. There were 6 weeks, a test and a final exam left in the semester to get a passing grade. Matt didn't have much confidence; he truly though some people were gifted in Math, and some not so much. Confidence comes from action; so I worked each problem with Matt in a step-by-step fashion. I even provided Matt with PDFs' of step by step solutions on problems he could practice on his own. Going the "extra mile" for Matt paid off - he passed his class. More importantly - Matt was not afraid of Math anymore. That's a win!!!
