I specialize in working with high-school and college students taking standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. I have a bachelor's degree in computer science, an MBA in finance and a second masters degree in business analytics, and I tutor grades 8-College.

My tutoring style:

My approach to tutoring is distinct from that of a formally trained instructor, and relies on both developing effective techniques to cope and catch up with classroom material, and ultimately improving outcomes, whether through better grades or better performance in class. I also work with students looking to achieve perfect scores on the Math sections of standardized tests, just as I always have when taking the tests myself, by approaching the challenge as I did when I went through the process as a young man. I've been told by several tutors and parents in the past that no other tutors they had engaged were able to help them achieve those scores the way I managed to. I also specialize in working with kids who are special needs, including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADD, among other special disorders

Success stories:

Beth was a student of mine for 3 months. Her initial math score of 610 didn't reflect her true potential since she was a stellar student enrolled in AP calculus AB when I started working with her. Working together, we developed a plan to get her score up in just under 12 weeks. I built a methodical study plan for her with targeted review for the topics she continued to get questions wrong in. We used a wide variety of resources, including 9th grade geometry textbooks, worksheets for topic specific review and several publicly available past SATs. It was a struggle for her at first, especially having to do this and manage her time carefully so as to not fall behind on her school work. In the end, her efforts paid off, however, with a near-perfect score of 790 on the Math section.

Anuj needed a score of 30+ on the ACT to qualify for college scholarships, and only obtained an overall score of 26 on his first attempt. His main issue was an inability to effectively use his calculator to speed up the rate at which he could complete the questions and thereby avoid running out of time on the Math section on every practice or real test he took. We worked closely together to practice over 50 different problem types, with repetition of the technique to solve the questions - whether exclusively on paper or with the help of his calculator - being the key to his future success. With 6 months of relentless practice, review and hard work, he achieved a score of 33 and is heading to a top 40 college in the United States next fall as a direct result of our efforts.

Hobbies and interests:

I love traveling overseas, and I'm fortunate to have visited over 40 countries so far, and every continent except Antarctica. I'm also a passionate soccer fan. I'm fortunate enough to have been to both El Classico and Wembley for the FA cup final, and I play in recreational tournaments every chance I get.
