I am an experienced educator having taught physics and engineering for about 3 years. I am very comfortable in STEM subjects having received a degree in engineering physics at Cornell University. With 9 years living in Spanish speaking countries I am similarly comfortable helping students learn español!I am incredibly passionate about education and I am very excited to support your learning journey!
I always bring positive energy when teaching students as I strive to make learning engaging and fun! I won't tell a student the answer, instead I ask leading questions so that the student can reach the answer through their own reasoning. This strategy serves to give my students a greater and deeper understanding of topics they were previously unsure about. I am also known to give original analogies for topics I tutor, helping to make learning easier and more enjoyable!
A story I think about often is a student that in an engineering physics class I helped with. At the start of the semester they were confused often and not even sure if they wanted to remain in the class. I supported them from the beginning. Soon they were coming to all my office hours and even to additional study sessions they requested. Through such effort, not only did they acquire a strong grasp of the material but also the ability to explain it and help other students! They finished the semester having succeeded in the class while being empowered to keep learning!
I'm an avid rock climber, guitar player and advocate for sustainability. I also do capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian dance-martial art, and samba percussion in my free time! Be aware that if you ever ask me about films it will be a while before I stop recommending movies to watch!
