I am a computer science tutor with experience tutoring college courses related to data structures and algorithms. I also have experience with AI/ML and theoretical mathematical computer science. I earned a bachelor's degree in only three years from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and I tutor grades 9 through College Seniors.
I am a strong believer in the value of students coming across the solution by themselves. I can help guide and ask leading questions, but I will never solve someone's work for them. When students leave my sessions, I desire that they come out feeling a sense of accomplishment that they can own and use in the future on homework and exams. Most often, students come to me with homework problems and I ask them to explain their existing code, which helps them to debug out loud.
In a data structures and algorithms course, a student came to me needing help with recursion, a tough computer science concept to grasp. He just wasn't getting it. I came up with an example problem to help illustrate not only the idea, but a practical use, and I drew a diagram that the professor hadn't thought to draw. After some explaining, I saw his eyes light up and he was able to solve that example problem I gave him and did well on his midterm!
I like reading, watching movies, hiking, and spending time with my family. I am particularly into SciFi books and movies, so I'll always appreciate a recommendation in that category. I also really enjoy coding personal projects in my free time :)
