I am a certified teacher with 22 years in the classroom. I teach math to 7th through 12th grade students. For 12 years, I was a part-time teacher at a community college. I taught Algebra and College Physics. I have a Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas and I tutor 7th grade through 2nd year of college.
I have been tutoring for over 30 years. I have become adept at learning where a student's level of understanding of a subject is and helping them build the foundations to get them where they need to be. I help the student to see that they already have several items in their "toolbox" and how to use these tools to reach their goals.
I had a student who had only a few high school credits and was almost 18 years old. He decided to work on his GED. I had the student tested to determine their deficiencies. We worked together for a few months on these deficiencies. When the student passed his GED test, I told a co-worker. The co-worker said I was being mean. When I told him I was serious, he told me that he was impressed. I have never forgotten that moment.
I have a huge interest in ancient civilizations, especially ancient structures. I was the sponsor of the Fantasy Club at my school for 3 years, mostly D&D and Magic the Gathering. My main hobby is non-sports cards and collectibles.
