I'm a friendly and patient person who tutors while traveling around the US with my two cats. I have a Master of Education degree with a specialty in math from High Meadows Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Washington University. I tutor grades 6-College.
My teacher superpower is working with students who have had previous rough experiences in math classes and need someone who will be patient and build their confidence. When I tutor I focus on making sure that my students understand the underlying concepts and connections between everything. I want to make sure that my students not only finish their assignments, but also understand how everything works under the surface.
Last year, a student that had struggled with math in every grade came at the end of the school year to thank me. We had worked together during office hours, and she had improved her understanding and confidence dramatically across the year, ending with a B. She told me, “you’re the first math teacher who hasn’t given up on me.” I don’t want other students to have this experience, but I’m here for anyone who has.
