About Me

I am a Columbia University graduate with 12 years of tutoring experience, pre-k through college. I specialize across all subjects, with my favorites being middle and high school math and English.

Tutoring Style

I am a caring, stimulating tutor. I create a safe, supportive, and warm tutoring environment that makes a student feel comfortable opening up, learning, and growing. I hone in on 'weakness' areas and turn them into strengths. My student's letter grades usually go up within 2 weeks of working with me. I balance humor and fun with meeting deadlines and accomplishing goals.

Success Story

Amen is a student I have worked with every day for 1-1.5 hours for 4 months now. When we first met, he had a B average. He also struggled with getting into fights at school or getting in trouble with teachers. Amen, and I have developed a close relationship. He likes to tell me about school gossip. I have given him skills in being effective with teachers, such as using a polite tone and not polarizing with their wishes. I have also taught him skills in de-escalating his anger with classmates, and walking away rather than engaging in fights. Since working together he has gotten in trouble a lot less. His grades have gone up to an A/A- average.
