I am a Mathematician with more than a decade of experience tutoring and teaching math to diverse groups of students. I have a PhD in mathematics from Dartmouth College and I tutor grades 6-Post Grad.
I am passionate about helping students not only understand the material they struggle with, but also feel like they are able to learn and understand mathematics. I adjust myself to the level of the student, making sure to address the root cause of their concern. I spend as much time as needed making sure they are able to correctly solve any problems they may encounter.
One of my favorite success stories is helping a group of students with a College Algebra and Trigonometry class at the City College of New York. One of the students in particular was an older man who had never really understood how exponents worked. Seeing me explain the reasoning behind the rules really helped him to see that he could learn whatever he wanted. Working with him throughout the semester helped him finally pass the class he had been struggling with for so many years.
As a math PhD, I do enjoy learning about math even in my off time. In addition, I enjoy playing video games, weightlifting, playing squash, and even watching reality television!
