Michelle

Welcome! My name is Michelle, and I have been tutoring for about a decade. Over the years I have had experience teaching students of all ages and grade levels, including college. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics and absolutely love the subject, especially geometry. When the weather is nice, I to kayak, hike, and enjoy the outdoors. I also enjoy meeting new people and keeping up with latest movies and tv shows, especially comedies.

My Tutoring Style:

I am very passionate about math and love imparting my knowledge to the next generation. Although detailed explanations are sometimes necessary, I prefer a more Socratic teaching method with asking lots of questions to lead students towards mathematical reasoning. As a visual learner, I utilize pictures whenever possible but am well-versed in a number of different teaching styles.

Success Story:

One of my favorite success stories is an honors student who skipped any algebra courses before starting geometry. Many geometry problems require a cursory knowledge of algebra, so she was learning concepts from two classes at the same time. At first she was struggling to keep up, but received an A+ final grade after working for months. We are all so proud of Lauralynn!
