I am a tutor with eight years experience with online and in-person teaching math to students from age 4 to 54. I have studied many fields of math, including abstract algebra, linear algebra, graph theory, statistics, and differential equations. Additionally, I speak French and have taken many classes in education, computer programming, biology, psychology, and sociology.

My Tutoring Style:

I am very passionate about math and love imparting my knowledge to the next generation. Although detailed explanations are sometimes necessary, I prefer a more Socratic teaching method with asking lots of questions to lead students towards mathematical reasoning. As a visual learner, I utilize pictures whenever possible but am well-versed in a number of different teaching styles.

Success Story:

One of my favorite success stories is an honors student who skipped any algebra courses before starting geometry. Many geometry problems require a cursory knowledge of algebra, so she was learning concepts from two classes at the same time. At first she was struggling to keep up, but received an A+ final grade after working for months. We are all so proud of Lauralynn!
