For years, I have dedicated myself to tutoring a diverse set of learners, including ESL students, disabled students, and students with nontraditional backgrounds. I specialize in English remote instruction. I have a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA and I tutor grades K-College.

My tutoring style:

My teaching philosophy is to make content engaging, relatable, and enjoyable for students. Because I like to prioritize the unique needs of every student, it is important that they can identify with the subject material at hand. For that reason, I tailor each lesson to the individual's needs and interests. Sometimes this might mean freewriting exercises; other times it could be picking out a story that the student is drawn to or discussing their entertainment interests in an academic context. I know it is difficult to learn a subject you have little interest in, so I adapt my teaching style to bridge a connection between the learner and lesson until the student passes with flying colors!

Success story:

Halfway through the semester, a community college student came to me because they had not turned in any of their English homework due to feeling insecure in their writing abilities. They completed their papers, but they brought them to me all ripped up without ever submitting them to their professor. I got out the Scotch tape and taped each piece of paper back together! Together, we were able to identify and target areas for improvement until the student gained the confidence to submit their papers. Their grade raised from a D- to a B+, but even better than that, they found a new passion for creative writing and felt empowered to use their talent for the first time by composing poetry, stories, and more!

Hobbies and interests:

Video games, road trips, reading, writing, gemstone collecting, music,  and my dog Mr. Crunchy!
