Tutoring Style

I'm a passionate Spanish teacher, and my tutoring style integrates both bottom-up and top-down methods, using a variety of activities and strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. By blending these approaches, I help students become more effective learners in real-life situations. I design dynamic lesson plans that include grammar, reading, and listening comprehension through storytelling, debates, projects, games, videos, movies, and online excursions to enhance cultural awareness and enrichment. I tailor my lessons to align with each student's interests and needs. Rooted in the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning and the three communicative modes, my approach aligns with the five Cs, ensuring comprehensive language education.

Success Story

Teaching and tutoring for many years have given me wonderful stories, with each student being special to me. One of my most rewarding tutoring success stories involves a student who initially struggled with Spanish 2, barely passing with a low grade. Through tailored lesson plans that combined grammar, reading, and listening comprehension with engaging activities like making connections, storytelling, debates, and games, the student gradually improved. By the end of the year, not only did he pass the course with an A, but he also won a gold medal at the National Spanish Exam. One year later, he scored a 5 on the Spanish AP Exam, highlighting the effectiveness of my personalized and dynamic teaching approach. Now, he is fluent in Spanish and pursuing a double major in Spanish and medical studies.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy a variety of activities that keep me engaged and entertained. Cooking is one of my passions, as I love experimenting with new recipes and flavors. I also find joy in reading, immersing myself in captivating stories, and expanding my knowledge on various subjects. Watching movies, TV shows, and sports, especially soccer and tennis, is another favorite pastime of mine. I'm a dedicated supporter of Real Madrid in soccer, with Ronaldo being my favorite player, and I follow tennis closely, cheering for players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner. Additionally, I take pride in supporting my college town's soccer team, the Florida State University Seminoles. Traveling is another interest of mine, as I enjoy exploring new cultures, cuisines, and landscapes whenever I have the opportunity. These hobbies and interests not only bring me joy but also enrich my life and provide me with valuable experiences to share with my students.
