I have a passion for educating young minds, specifically in STEM fields. I have years of tutoring experience, have received national scholarly awards, and am a co-author in a published research paper regarding exercise and cognition. I have a bachelor's degree from Nova Southeastern University and I tutor grades 5-12.
My teaching philosophy focuses on catering each lesson to the specific student's talents, skills, and understanding. I do not lecture; I help the student engage in their own learning. By getting to know what the student is interested in I can create examples and conversation that will help keep the student engaged. I also mix in plenty of wit and critical thought to keep a smile on both of our faces.
One of my favorite stories of a student succeeding was very recently and due to the pandemic. We started with one session a week and very quickly switched to two sessions in order to catch up on missing work. After just 6 weeks of consistent tutoring and diligent learning strategies, he was able to raise his grade from a 75 to a 94. He accomplished this by receiving A's on multiple exams consecutively.
The last few years of my life have been consumed by learning more about the world we live in such as electronics, construction, politics, philosophy, religion, and chemistry. When I am not learning, I am snowboarding, disk golfing, hiking, mountain biking, or playing poker. I also like other strategy games such as chess and Clash of Clans.
