I'm an aspiring teacher with years of experience under my belt! I focus mainly on the core subjects of ELA (reading comprehension and grammar) and math for ages K-10th grade. I'm studying for my Early Education bachelor's degree from Hunter College in NYC and studying abroad in Cairo, Egypt for my minor in Arabic!

My Tutoring Style:

I know the feeling of being frustrated at school so I'm a teacher who will jump through hoops to help a student understand material, even if we have to go over it 10 times in completely different ways! I like to make real world examples out of topics whenever I can to make whatever we're studying more relatable and therefore, easier to understand. I love quizzing students on older material in a casual way to enforce memorization and make sure the topics don't need more review.

Success Story:

My favorite success story would definitely have to be about a 5th grader I was tutoring to pass an entrance exam to get into the private school of her dreams. She had already taken the exam twice but each time, she was just a few points short of getting into the next round. She was starting to give up but her mom thought she should try one more time with the help of a tutor so we came up with a game plan together to figure out where her weaknesses and strengths were. After around 7 months of 3x a week tutoring and lots of extra homework, she said "This time, I feel different." We had one last session and I wished her good luck and told her as long as she tried her best, nothing else would matter. About a month later, I got a call from her; she could barely speak because of her excitement but she let me know she passed and the school scheduled an interview with her to move on with the application!! She's now a 10th grader in the high school of the same school and we still keep in touch!

Hobbies & Interests:

I love to hang out with my three cats and snuggle up to read a good book. When I'm not at home, I'm on the hunt for new and exciting food from cuisines I've never explored before.
