Yanicka

Hi! My name is Yanicka. I have been an educator for over six years During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to be a lead teacher, and tutor. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring in person and online. Throughout my time teaching, I’ve been a lead planner and teacher for Math, English and Social Studies. I’ve planned, tutored and taught these particular subjects for grades K through 8.

In addition to this, I worked as a part-time ESL teacher for  a non-profit organization. I serviced adults of all ages and backgrounds. Most of my students were from Haiti, Mexico, El Salvador, and many other countries around the world. During my time, I taught beginner level students, and enjoyed seeing my students learn, grow and become more comfortable with the English language.

Currently, I hold a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Relay Graduate School of Education.  My passion is education, and I enjoy teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I work with both children and adults. I enjoy teaching small and large groups of students.

As an experienced teacher and tutor, I know that everyone learns differently. It is my job to ensure that I am working with students and/or  their caregivers to determine the best way to help a student move forward and improve.

I am an enthusiastic and passionate teacher. I believe every student has their own unique way of learning, and I pride myself on adjusting lessons to ensure that students have the best learning experiences. I also believe in building students' confidence and working with their parents/ caretakers to ensure they are doing their best.

Success Story

‍
One of my favorite success stories is when I helped one of my students who was below grade level in reading. When he first came to me, he struggled with reading comprehension. He lacked confidence and was unsure of his work. However, after months of working together, he was able to improve. Currently, he is on grade level and is more confident in his work. He always asks questions, and feels comfortable answering them!

Hobbies & Interests

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, trying new restaurants, and listening to music! I also enjoy learning and reading about different cultures.
