About Me

I am a certified teacher for grades 1-8 and have over 20 years of experience in the traditional classroom teaching math, science, social studies/history. I am also certified to teach English to non-English speakers. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My experience with online tutoring started in 2020, with my preference being to tutor students in math.

Tutoring Style

I am a hands-on tutor. In my sessions, I like for the students to actively participate and engage in the material we are working on. This helps to ensure that the student is getting the most out of our sessions.

Success Story

One of my favorite success stories is when I was asked to tutor a homeschooled student in the summer of 2023 to help prepare them for a hybrid school setting. During the first session, I quickly realized that the student was lacking some basic, foundational math skills. So, we started with basic addition and subtraction. Once their confidence was in place, we started working on more complex problems, and eventually made our way to complicated problem-solving involving fractions and decimals, in addition to whole numbers. By the time school started in the fall of 2023, they were confident and ready to take on the new school year! I was so proud of their progress and the connection we made. After a month in the hybrid school, the student's parents asked me to be their child's full-time teacher for the rest of the school year!!! We finished the 2023-24 school year in June quite successfully and 2 weeks ago the parent contacted me again to once again teach/homeschool their child in all subjects for the 2024-25 school year!!! I am so excited to continue on this journey with this family! :)
