I am an educator who has worked with the Stanford Education Program for Gifted Youth, and I have worked as a private tutor since 2013. I have a degree in mathematics from Stanford University, and I tutor grades 6th - College.
I know from personal experience that learning can sometimes be quite intimidating, so I take care to maintain a positive and affirming approach toward clients. The learning process isn't just about memorization and mastering material. It's also about fostering confidence and a growth mindset that will pay dividends in the long run. As a tutor, I'm a big believer in the value of looking for steady rather than overnight progress, celebrating small victories, and offering reassurance that stumbles are a healthy and necessary part of learning.
My favorite success story is working with a high school senior who was struggling with passing the math section of the California High School Exit Exam. She was bright and motivated, so we spent several times a week gradually developing her intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts. After a few months of work, she was able to pass the exit exam, earn her diploma, and pursue higher studies. I'm very proud of her!
In my spare time, you'll find me at a trivia contest or a bridge tournament. I'm also a huge fan of racket sports, and over the past several years, I've taken up squash, beach tennis, table tennis, and padel. Hobbies like these remind me that learning is a lifelong process that goes beyond academics, and challenging myself to learn new things keeps me humble and makes life interesting.
