I am a former university physics tutor with three years of experience tutoring Mathematics and Physics to undergraduate students. I have a Bachelor of Science in both Physics and Computer Science from the University of California, Davis, and tutor students at both the high school and undergraduate level.
As a tutor, I tailor my language and educational approach to the individual needs and level of knowledge of my students in order to create a productive learning environment in which they may thrive. I am passionate about tutoring not just the concepts of physics, but also the underlying mathematical framework upon which our physical models are built. To ensure my students succeed in this regard, I create tailored, relevant practice problems that address key physics concepts for my students, which we then solve together using both the Socratic and scaffolding methods.
My favorite success story as a tutor is when I helped a group of eleven undergraduate students understand the concept and mathematical formulation of the moment of inertia in classical mechanics. After the discussion, the students came up to thank me, as they had a midterm later that week, and appreciated the help. The next week, the same group of students returned to tell me that they had all done well on the exam, and returned to tutoring each week thenceforth for the remainder of the quarter.
When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy playing games with my friends and reading science fiction novels.
