About Me

I am a math teacher with extensive content knowledge and the ability to move fluently across grade levels. My classroom experience includes teaching 6th-grade and 8th-grade mathematics. Since 2022, I have also been teaching mathematics online, covering a wide range of grade levels from 2nd to 10th.

Tutoring Style

I am passionate about teaching mathematics and enjoy adapting instruction to meet each student's unique learning style. With experience across various grade levels, I can accurately identify the prerequisite skills necessary for success in specific math concepts and adjust my instruction accordingly. I have also worked with students above grade level, expanding their mathematical knowledge even further. My approach is holistic, focusing not only on the skills and concepts required for success in the current grade level but also for future advancement. I encourage students to see mistakes as valuable learning opportunities by incorporating error analysis into our sessions. Additionally, I teach students how to check their work, fostering independence and building confidence, rather than relying on others for confirmation. To maximize the benefits of my instruction, I emphasize the importance of active participation and encourage students to ask questions throughout our sessions.

Success Story

I worked with a student who was above grade level for two years, starting in the 5th grade. As part of her support team for district math competitions, I guided her through 6th-grade math, pre-algebra, and Algebra 1 concepts (typically covered in 8th and 9th grades). I also introduced her to high school geometry, which she particularly enjoyed. Thanks to our online sessions and the preparation she received from her school coach, she won several local district math competitions.
