I am a certified teacher with 25 years of experience teaching Math and French in public high schools. I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics with a minor in French from Chicago State University and a master's degree in School Leadership from Concordia University in Chicago. I have tutored 1st and 2nd year college students and participated in many after-school tutoring programs as well as volunteering my time to tutor my students after school as well. I believe that I must encourage my students on their journey, listen to them, and support them as we find the ways that they learn math best and build upon them. Math may never be their favorite subject but I do want them to feel that it is doable and no longer a stumbling block to their dreams.
I am passionate about Math and I love French as well. I usually can look at a student's work or listen to their explanation and quickly determine what concepts are not quite clear to them. I reassure them breakdown the concept for them and develop ways for them to understand and work with the topic. I can't resist a student who wants to learn. I am patient and will keep going until I find a way to help your students understand the material. I can give lots of notes or just a few notes. Before long, most students begin to feel that they can do math.
My librarian friend had a granddaughter taking College Algebra in college and she was failing. My friend asked me to tutor her and I was able to help her understand the parts that confused her so that she could pass each of the chapter tests and final exam on her own. It was so awesome to hear that she had been able to pass the course.
I like to play Match 3 games and role-playing games on my phone, my iPad, and the PS5 when my children are not on it. Some of my favorite games are Final Fantasy games, Raid Shadow Legends, Neverwinter, and others. I also like to knit, crochet, and put puzzles together.
