I am a certified teacher from New Zealand with more than a decade of experience teaching in high-performing schools in New Zealand and London, UK. I love teaching math and have coordinated school-wide mathematics curriculums in the past. I have a bachelor's degree from Victoria University of Wellington, NZ, and I tutor grade 3-6 math.
I am an enthusiastic and adaptable teacher, dedicated to ensuring my students thoroughly grasp the material they need to master. I take the time to get to know my students, understanding their interests and learning styles, so I can tailor my approach to their needs. Whether it's slowing down to explain concepts in depth or accelerating to match their advanced understanding, I emphasize active learning and regularly review material to reinforce knowledge, aiming to build their confidence and help them excel.
For me, teaching is all about relationships, encouragement, and perseverance. I remember working with a girl who was in the top-set math class but lacked confidence because she often made small calculation errors and needed concepts explained again. She felt out of place among her peers. Through conversations to understand what was holding her back, celebrating her small wins, and providing additional practice, I saw her confidence and enjoyment in math grow significantly. Math went from being a subject she merely tolerated to becoming her favorite!
When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy staying active by cycling around the city and exploring new places. I'm passionate about all sports, but I have a particular love for the English Premier League. Traveling and discovering new cultures and landscapes also keep me curious and energized.
