About Me

I am a certified math teacher with over 8 years of tutoring math and study skills for a wide variety of clients. I love math the way some people love music or sports. I want to be of service to others and help them have the "I get it!" moment in learning math.

Tutoring Style

I teach math as a language I am fluent in. I check in with students frequently and answer any questions they have as best as I can. I ask students to read math problems out loud and make sure they understand what everything means, and what the problem specifically is looking for as an answer, before rushing in to solve the problem. Specifically, I explain numbers have both a numeric part and a "unit of measurement" part. It is important to be thorough and include both parts in an answer.

Success Story

I helped a college student who failed Precalculus twice understand the material and follow my process for learning how to solve math problems. We met twice a week. She would work on her homework ahead of time and bring me problems she didn't know how to solve. By the end of the school year, she had run out of problems to bring me! She did so well on her course that she didn't need a tutor for her next math class.

Hobbies & Interests

Play Chess, Watch "The Chosen" TV series about the life of Jesus from the perspective of those who met him, attend Quaker Meetings and other meditation practices.
