Are you ready to grow those academic skills and ace that next exam? Let’s grow together and create a strong foundation to continue learning. Anette has been a tutor for 3+ years, continuing to share her knowledge with other learners! Her college career has led her down the path of finance at The City College of NY, as she seeks to use her strong STEM skills to help others succeed.
Anette has tutored students in all levels of math, ranging from elementary math to calculus II. However, her strengths revolve around algebra, the foundation of math entirely. She believes this is where the highest sense of knowledge and remembrance must exist. “Understanding and comprehending algebra is of the highest importance to grow into other subjects of math. One cannot simply continue on, without placing these fundamentals into play. Algebra is the key to solving any mathematical problem. We use it all around us, everyday and everywhere.”
Anette has worked with students of all ages: ranging from 2nd grade to college level. She loves to meet others and hear their stories. She engages by sharing her knowledge and helps mentor them down their academic paths.
Anette uses a blend of unique, sophisticated, yet simplistic tactics to enable others to learn most effectively. She enhances success right from the first session, to ensure that students are in the right mindset and is constantly challenging them in their learning. Anette believes that understanding fundamentals and always building on that, will bring success at a quicker rate. Her goal is that after each session, “my students walk away, taking away one thing, whether it's academic or assistance in other goals, to use and apply it into their daily routine.”
Working with hundreds of students, Anette has come across a lot of individuals who have found light at the end of the tunnel in their academic journey. With every student she meets, she challenges them to continue growing and displays their strengths at the core of their knowledge. Her most memorable moment was working with Erin, a single mother returning back to school for the first time in 10 years. Coming to Anette in the middle of the semester after failing her first 3 exams, she was in desperate need of assistance. Sitting with Anette for 3 months twice a week, Anette gave her the right methods to help her succeed. Being patient, resilient, and motivated to see change, Anette knew Erin was capable of learning the material but was lacking the correct effective tips in doing so. With this little change, Erin came to ace her next 2 exams and ended the class with a B+. The most important lesson to take away from this, was Anette’s motto that she told Erin everyday after the session to assure her that she will succeed. Anette stated: “Anything you do in life is a marathon, not a sprint. With the right techniques, hard work, resilience, and patience, you can and WILL achieve anything you want.”
● Reading: Anette makes it a habit to read everyday, to heighten her knowledge and keep herself engaged.
● Hiking: Anette’s goal is to hike the whole Appalachian trail across the country.
● Skiing: Anette loves to take trips to Utah and hopes to one day make it to the ultimate powder country, Japan, to Heliski.
