I am a Ph.D. applied mathematician with almost a decade of experience in one-on-one tutoring and classroom teaching in mathematics and physics.
I am passionate about mathematics and its applications. I use my diverse background in the sciences to curate examples and explanations on a student-by-student basis. By learning what intrigues students, I can craft applications to make abstract mathematics more concrete and interesting. Through these intuitive explanations, students gain confidence in their mathematical abilities, improving their class performance while promoting a lifelong love of mathematics.
A student came to me with doubts about their ability to pass their general education statistics course for their undergraduate degree. Together we improved their statistics grades and overall mathematical abilities by noticing that their general mathematics understanding was causing significant difficulties in the course. We worked together for two years afterward. Eventually, they minored in mathematics and went on to medical school.
I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy books, going hiking, and playing board games with friends.
