I'm an experienced math teacher with years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics and statistics courses for all ages. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics and I tutor grades 1-College.
I'm an enthusiastic teacher that supports a positive mathematics attitude, focuses on theoretical understanding, and helps students reduce anxiety while doing math. I'm patient with students and work through math concepts step-by-step at a pace that fits each student. In addition, helping students to learn from mistakes and fostering reflective thinking are also things that I make sure to integrate during my sessions.
One of my favorite success stories happened when I was working as a teaching assistant for a statistics course. I had weekly break out sessions with students where I used to explain concepts in detail then pass out a worksheet. Many students were struggling and stopped by my office. At the end of the semester, I received many grateful messages for helping them to succeed and wishing I would be their teacher again. One of those interesting messages was from a student who informed me that my meetings with him helped to raise his grade from D+ to A- which enabled him to pass the course and not lose his scholarship! He sent me a thankful card and wished I would be his professor someday!
