About Me

I am a certified teacher with five years of experience teaching elementary-level subjects. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake and am pursuing my Master's degree!

Tutoring Style

I believe the first and most important step to teaching is building a relationship with the student! My favorite part about tutoring is making that connection with my student and watching them flourish as their confidence is built. I adapt to the needs of my students but typically follow the I Do, We Do, You Do method. The "I Do" is where I model the skill my student is struggling with. The "We Do" is where the student and I work together through a similar problem using the same skill. This is where I walk the student through the problem, step by step. The "You Do" is where the student completes the problem all on their own, and I provide feedback or corrections as needed.

Success Story

When I first met Lily, a third-grader who struggled with math, she felt frustrated and anxious about solving word problems. To help her, we started by breaking down the problems into smaller, manageable parts and used real-life examples that related to her interests. Gradually, Lily began to understand the concepts and developed strategies for solving problems step by step. Her confidence grew as she realized she could tackle even the toughest questions. By the end of our sessions, Lily had improved her math skills and developed a genuine interest in solving problems and being challenged. She went on to pass her Math State Standardized Test with flying colors! Nothing beats the smile on her face every time she successfully solved a problem on her own.

Hobbies & Interests

I enjoy spending time outdoors-- hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, or playing tennis. Though I'm not very good at tennis! :) When I'm indoors, I enjoy reading, playing board games, playing video games, and spending time with my friends and family!
